Lesson 1: UNDERSTANDING THE BENEFITS OF COVENANT WEALTH
In the book of John 3: 31, the Scripture made us to understand that whatever that is from above is above all. Thus, covenant wealth is above man-made or devilish wealth. For the blessings of God maketh rich and add no sorrow (Proverbs 10:22).
Hear this: poverty is not an expression of godliness. Neither does wealth depict worldliness (1 John 2:16). Money belongs to God (Haggai 2:8). Money is not evil (1 Timothy 6:10). You can be rich and Holy at the same time (Luke 16:19-31).
Heaven is a symbol of affluence. Its streets are paved with gold, its buildings are mansions. Thus, wealth is more heavenly than earthly.
The Biblical definition of worldliness does not include wealth (1 John 2:6).
God's covenant of wealth works only for those who live unto Him. For it is said of Uzziah in 2 Chronicles 26:5, "...As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper".
"Worldly riches bring pride, insecurity, its temporary and sorrowful. Wealth in the kingdom is humbling, sorrow-free, durable and multiplies" (Bishop David Oyedepo). He further stated that it's possible to be wealthy outside the kingdom. There are quite a lot of wealthy people in the world today who don't know Jesus. The rich man in the days of Lazarus the beggar didn't know Jesus. He was rich on earth, but ended up in hell. So, it is possible to be wealthy on earth and be without Christ.
How?
By human wisdom, strength, involvement in too many different jobs, various dubious acts, gambling, forgery, etc. Wealth is possible outside the kingdom.
CHARACTERISTICS OF WEALTH OUTSIDE THE KINGDOM
1. Pride: A proud person sees himself/herself as the doer. That is, whatever he/she has was acquired by his/her hands (Acts 12). Thus, pride has worms inside it that eat people up. Also, Nebuchadnezzar grew so strong that God was no longer relevant to him and then God demoted him into the animal kingdom, and for seven years, he moved about under the dews of the day. Pride is a silent killer. It is destructive. It destroys without remedy. There is hardly anyway anyone can make it outside the kingdom without being proud of such achievement.
